Acrostics - spelling it out with Poetry

But what's an acrostic for the alphabet?
After briefly considering them, I've decided to spare this journal the limericks... I mean - really... Acrostics, on the other hand, at least take a bit of thought and planning with the letters serving as a useful jumping off point. Some of these are light, others have more time in them.
Acrostically speaking -
For Bilbo:
Beginning on your great Adventure
In the late-morning light,
Leaving your hat and pocket-handkerchief
Behind, as well as your Respectability -
Over hill and under hill you wandered.
Barrel-rider! Spider-stinger! Lucky Number!
All the names that you were given would
Gain you fame, and the attention of those whom
Great wisdom had set apart. Such courage -
Into the dragon's tunnel you ventured, though
None would come with you, alone you faced
Smaug.
-
Shire Tale
Shire, sweet fields and peace,
How I wish I could see thee again!
Into the West I have traveled,
Rare the sights before my eyes -
Evenstar and bright waters.
They are lovely, but my heart
Always will remember a small
Land, my homeland, my people;
Ever in peace may they now be kept.
-
Good old Bill
Beast of Burden,
Innocent friend,
Load-bearing silently,
Loved by dear Sam.
Times were tough;
Heave that apple, Sam!
Emancipation by need -
Ponies were not to be found,
Only this one starved
Nag,
Yet what a treasure, Bill.
-
Sneak
Sniffing, always sniffing,
Meals are hidden deep, yet
Eat we must,
Ageless hungering for
Gold and fishes,
Old we are, so old, so tired,
Longing for darkness and rest.
Greed and lust driven, must
Only show the eyes, no more...
Looking always for the Baggins,
Looking and finding him not,
Until
Mordor.

Aragorn Elessar
Aragorn Elessar
Ably have you defended this trust,
Ranger of the forgotten North. Under your care,
Actions are begotten solely of purpose, every
Gain held against the promises;
Over the lands your stride has taken you,
Randing 'twixt seas and mountains,
Never resting until your Day is come.
End of ancient lineage revealed, the
Learned men shake their heads all amaze,
Even the very Wise briefly bow, a
Show of respect well-earned and well-given.
Shall the land ever again know such a King?
Anduril embodied, a flame living among men, a
Reign long hoped for and fulfilled.
-
Eowyn of Rohan
Evermind, the blossoms white blooming
Only upon the tombs of the dead;
Why, dearest one, oh why does
Your sweetness of fragrance, your bloom
Need death to reach its fullness?
Only a blossom touched by the
Frost.
Rohan will call for your rising,
Over the graves of Kings.
How you shall bloom, your courage as great
As the tears that have gone unshed
Never to be counted, never to be mourned.
--
Edge of Springtime's life
Overshadowed by
Winter; such a frost upon
Youth, such pain. Your eyes
Never showing hope.
-
For the Ringbearer
Freely did you take upon yourself this
Ring, this endless temptation to
Own resplendant evil, taken, yourself
Devoured by its brilliance and light,
Only yours and no other's.
Beauteous and golden, it met its match;
Against your steadfast hold to what is
Good, it had little chance. It could not know
Gentleness, or purity. It had no understanding of
Innocence nor of your desire that your people should
Never fall beneath the shadow of its dark
Slavery; darkness could not fathom your light.
Ringbearer they named you, a title and a curse.
Isildur's bane strung about your neck,
Never again would you be free of its weight.
Guided by deceit and treachery while yet
Bound to your task, providence was yet upon you,
Even as you feared you would breathe your last.
Alone but for one, you found a way. You
Remembered once more who you were, and
Even though it overwhelmed, you were triumphant.
Rest now, courageous one, rest.
-
Gwaihir
Graciously remembering
What kindness was once done
A long season of sunlight passing
Into memory since, yet
Heeding the call of need,
In the night, silently
Releasing a friend from woe.
-
For the Magnificent
'Merry' they called you, a simple name for an
Ever-faithful companion and stalwart friend,
Rarely has the Shire seen the likes of your
Indomitable spirit, your bravery that reached
Across nations and ages,
Drawing down the memory , the witnessing
Of the ending of an Age, your
Courageous eyes that beheld both life and death.
Before you, Kings have knelt, accepting your own
Rare gift of honesty and friendship in their courts.
Always you recall his name and voice,
Never to forget the one who made you his own.
Danger could not quell your heart.
Youth and strength and love were yours in full.
Better than this has Buckland never known.
Under your competent and unhesistant leadership, they
Could flourish and deepen and
Know that you are the Master, the Magnificent.
