Title: Taken for Granted
Characters: Jo Grant, Mike Yates, Jack Harkness
Wordcount: 267
Summary:  A certain Captain thinks Jo is a lovely thing. Too bad.

--
A/N: This was written because it was noted I had never written anything for Jack. This also sums up why.

Title:  A Mysterious Customer
Wordcount: approx. 41,000
Characters: Three, Jo, the Brig, Sergeant Benton, Yates, the Master, UNIT
Summary:  Dragons are mysteriously appearing in the countryside and UNIT must investigate. Does Bessie hold the key?

This is the fourth and presumably final tale for the 'Custom Vehicle' series in which the little yellow roadster 'Bessie' always has a part in saving the day.  It was very nearly two stories, but they were so intertwined I ended up with just having one that is twice the length of the others.  A very long time ago I read a prompt from someone (who I no longer recall) that said "Three, Degado!Master, Dragon"  and this was the result.  The recurring OC for this series, a government aide by the name of John Babcock, does make a reappearance.

It being rather lengthy, I won't post it here at Dwth, but you are welcome and encouraged to enjoy it over here:

A small round of drabbling going by as I've revisited a favorite era with a friend who had never seen them before. First a bit of humor regarding the ridiculousness of some of the creatures encountered, then one nod for lost_spook's favorite pair and two for Three and Sarah Jane.

Title: And to Top it off, No One Believes Me
Characters: Jo Grant, Mike Yates
Prompt: 333: grievance
Summary:  Post-Peladon, Jo finally gets her night out with Mike.
-- One minute you're going out...the next thing you know... )
Title: In Good Hands
Characters: Liz, the Brigadier
Prompt: 336: transfer
Summary: Where on Earth could be safer?
-- I want a transfer... )

Title: Rebuild that Sand Castle (it never fell)
Characters: Three, Sarah-Jane
Summary: Sarah-Jane may need a vacation from their vacation.  (set just after Death to the Daleks, prompt 'happy place')
--

Sunshine and warmth seemed impossible )

Title: Relative to Who
Characters: Three, Sarah-Jane
Summary: Smith and Smith.  No relation.  Maybe. (prompt: admission)
--

I'm Doctor Smith... )

Title: Acquired Taste
Characters: Three, Jo and Benton

Summary:
It's Christmastime at UNIT, a nice time to sample some homebaked fruitcake...or then again, maybe not.

Two drabbles recently gone by to tuck in here, one from a random generator list at DbyA that featured Eight/Jo in it's mixing:

Title: Eight Times better than Brazil
Characters: Eight, Jo
Rating: G
Summary:Coming back home can be mutual.

She was a little older and a little wiser in what risks she was willing to take with her life, or with her heart. He was a little older and wiser himself, and much in need of someone who could be there to lift his spirits, to bring him back to a joy of living, exploring.

And what a joy it had been, once more. How well they’d rediscovered now that the sweet spark had not been extinguished by the years. Together they were healed and renewed before a kaleidoscopic universe.

Besides, Jo had always loved the feel of velvet.

Title: You Look like a Queen
Characters: : Four, Romana II
Rating: G
Summary: Never judge a book by its cover. Or even assume it's a book. (prompt 324: gape)

The Doctor gaped. “Romana, you can’t keep changing bodies like that. It’s disturbing. It upsets the balance of the cosmos, confuses the fashion world. Wig-makers and plastic surgeons everywhere’ll be in revolt. The ginger hair is especially atrocious and whatever were you thinking deciding on that hideous collar?”

She raised her chin. “How dare you address me thus, sir?”

“Oh come, Romana. You don’t have to add the snotty, overbearing persona, I mean, just because you’ve made a horrible, immature decision and looked like Queen Elizabeth…” Someone small and blonde tugged at his sleeve.

“Doctor.”

“What, Romana?”

“I’m over here.”

Title: Grant Me Just a Little Speech
Characters: The Master, Jo Grant with Third Doctor cameo
Wordcount: 4,250
Summary: The Master kidnaps Jo intending to hold her for ransom, but gets an earful instead.
A/N: A little tale written for JJPOR and Clocketpatch, who wondered what it would be like for the Master to have to spend time around Jo. This is one idea.

...he began to have misgivings )

Plugging along through longer WIPs I found a need to finish *something* hence a set of three drabbles to touch base with my neglected friend [livejournal.com profile] dw100.

First, my favorite of the batch:
Title: Hold Me
Characters: Ian, Barbara
Wordcount: 100
Summary: Just making their way through this adventure together, prompt 'tremor'.

Hold Me )

A bit of humor -
Title: Next Time Just Order a Cake
Characters: Two, Jamie and Zoe
Wordcount: 100
Summary: These look a little too familiar. (Reference to ‘The Seeds of Death’, prompt bloom)

Oh dear... )
And finally, a tiny bit that wants to turn into a tale but I'm tamping it down.
Title: Nearly Sweet as Water
Characters: Three and Jo
Wordcount: 100
Summary: Sheltered from more than the sun.
A/N: A brushing of Three-Jo fluff for starflower, prompt cool.

It was a strange thing... )

"It's just not fair, is it?"

Title: Doesn't Even Throw a Shadow
Characters: Yates, with, Jo, Three and Benton
Wordcount: 600
Summary: Captain Yates wishes he could capture just a little of Jo's attention, if only the Doctor weren't outclassing him. A short ficlet for Mike's sad plight.

A/N: Poor old Mike. Ever since he lost that date that Jo even dressed up for just because the Doctor abruptly swept her away to another planet, I’ve felt a little sorry for him. He never stood a chance. I blame this ficlet on [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook who made me go look at my plot-bunnies and hence rediscover this one.

He knew she was only being polite. But... )

After all, nostalgia for youthful adventures only goes so far... another in the 'It will Come for your Children series'.

Ah, Memories

“Are you sure, Mum?” the petite young woman asked, considering the grinning tall man beside his blue box.

“Of course! Go on,” Jo said, “Just don’t stray too far from the TARDIS. And don’t let anyone hypnotize you. If a man says he’s the Master, run. Oh, and watch out for strange plants, they can be quite nasty, especially fungus. Stay away from…um, just about anything alien, really, some are quite… and… you know, on the other hand, no! No, stop! You’re grounded!”

“But Jo!” the Doctor protested.

“Sorry, Doctor, but it’s all coming back to me now. Shoo!”

“You mean,” he said, waving a couple fingers in vaguely orbiting patterns, “Other things out there are using our honey?”

Title: Sweetest
Rating: G
Wordcount: 12,376
Characters: Three and Jo with brief appearance by Benton
Summary: When bee-boxes turn up mysteriously empty of their honey, the Doctor and Jo are sent out to find out why. A gentle spring adventure with a scoop of fluff.

A/N: This 6-chapter tale started off as a little vignette for Valentine’s day, hence the double scoops of fluff in the resulting story. It is a relatively gentle tale for spring, with a touch of foreshadowing for Jo’s upcoming changes in her next trip out toward Wales.

"You're not fat enough for Santa!" declared a small boy's voice.

Title: Wishing on a Peppermint Star
Characters: Three, Jo, Benton, Yates with reference to the Brigadier
Wordcount: 5,419
Summary: A light little Christmastide tale for Three, Jo, Benton and Yates. A small, lost alien is somewhere amid the holiday shoppers, but we mustn't let that stop the children from seeing Santa. Ho ho!

A/N: I've always thought Three would've made a dandy Santa. Written for the Christmas season, 2009.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] starbells for dreaming up the concept of this particular creature, and to [livejournal.com profile] everloyal for her creative ideas and helpful advising, you're splendid, both of you. Thank you also to my Brits for being willing to put up with 'Santa' rather than 'Father Christmas' for most of the tale. There is a mild, brief fluffiness in this holiday package.

Title: Worlds of Betrayal Between Us
Characters: Three, Jo, the Master
Wordcount: 471
Summary: Jo has had enough of the Doctor, now it's the Master's turn to show her the universe.

A/N: This unusual AU scene came into being because of a challenge issued by [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook who gave me a synopsis that I would "never write" - which meant I had to, naturally. Poor Three. [livejournal.com profile] starbells insisted this be tagged 'horror'.

Prompt: Jo decides she's had enough of Three and goes off travelling the universe with the Master, who she's always secretly preferred anyway.
This is the result:

Title: Morning Tea
Characters: Three, Jo
Wordcount: 1,603
Summary: The Third Doctor and Jo in an introspective interlude.

A/N: Because tea always makes things a little better, because there's always hope, and because I love the subtle relationship between them. A small introspective interlude with a tea analogy woven in, set just before the events of 'The Three Doctors'.

Title: Variable Similitude
Characters: Benton, Yates, the Brigadier, Three, Jo
Wordcount: 7,721 in 11 short chapters
Summary: John Benton only wanted a cup of tea - but everything just went downhill from there. A late-night runaround at UNIT.

A/N: 'Or When a Duck is not a Duck'. My family complained 'there just isn't enough fic with Benton out there!' and I had to agree, so I thought I'd write one. Enjoy.

The Master lifted his chin, looking down his nose with injured nobility. "By your own professional opinion, Miss Grant, seeing as this is *your* planet, what do you recommend?"

Title: Snowbound
Characters: Three, Jo, Delgado!Master with brief appearance of Benton and Yates.
Wordcount: 6,925 in two chapters
Summary: Even the most improbable alliances can occur with the application of enough snow.

A/N: This was written December 2008 for [livejournal.com profile] stunt_muppet's request: a short story in which Three, Jo and Delgado's Master end up in a domestic setting, but the only way I could think of this particular threesome being caught in any kind of domestic situation would be by involuntary entrapment. Or a blizzard. Enjoy.

(I am a hopeless fluff-level Three/Jo shipper, I admit, so this is a favorite)

Title: Little Things
Characters: Jo and Cliff Jones, with reference to Three
Wordcount: 1,324
Summary: It's the little things, like insects and fungi and trust.

A/N: My apologies to any who preferred to believe Jo's rushed marriage turned out well - I've never been able to picture Jo down in the Amazon for very long, especially when she may have married Cliff for some of the wrong reasons and found he was all too human.

In which Bessie saves the day

Titles: A Custom Vehicle, A Custom Order, A Custom Design and A Mysterious Customer
Characters: Third Doctor, Jo, the Brigadier, Benton, Yates, the Master and UNIT
Wordcount:
A Custom Vehicle - 11,104
A Custom Order - 17,387
A Custom Design - 17,987
A Mysterious Customer - approx. 35,000
Summary: Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart faces an unwelcome government audit, surely a good excuse to chase after aliens in the English countryside.

A/N: I have serious vehicle-love for Bessie, surely one of the best heroic cars ever. The first story started out as a singular tale in homage to Bessie's awesomeness, then grew into a three-episode-arc. I'm not entirely sure there won't eventually be a fourth one either! They are 'classic episode' style, about 6 fat chapters apiece. These are loosely set in the time where his TARDIS being inoperational, the Doctor began pouring his restless tinkering into a little yellow car instead. References are made to the First Doctor serial War Machines. There is one recurring OC, a government aide by the name of John Babcock. Only the last one includes the Master, as it seemed obligatory to let him make a showing, it being Three's era.

Links to each story in the series at Teaspoon: (they may also be found at Fanfiction.net and AO3)

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart faces an unwelcome government audit, surely a good excuse to chase after aliens in the English countryside.
A Custom Vehicle

Aliens, strange machines, a quarry and forgotten military tunnels in England! It must be Three and Jo again. And yes, this Cold War era underground city really does exist in Corsham - truth is stranger than fiction.
A Custom Order

Bessie is missing! Why, and what will become of her? Is the fate of Britain involved? Of course.
A Custom Design

Dragons are mysteriously appearing in the countryside and UNIT must investigate. Does Bessie hold the key?

Shoehorning them in

Title: Titles in a Box
Characters: Doctors One through Seven plus Nine with assorted companions
Wordcount: 1200 plus titles and commentary.
Summary: A collection in which all of the titles from the various Doctor's eras are gathered, stuffed or wrangled with varying intelligibilty into drabbles.

A/N: This was a self-challenge to see if I could wrangle all of the titles of each Doctor's era into drabble form and still (sort of kind of) make some sense. Some of them - such as Four most notably - needed more than one drabble to pull it off. I allowed for one "wildcard" leftover word that then became the title for each one.
